They were produced chambered for various gauges with various-lenth barrels and chokes. They are quite similar in appearance and were designed as inexpensive utility-grade weapons.The No. 311 was used on two totally different guns, pre- and post WW-II. Shortly before WW-I the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. introduced a cheaper double in 12- and 16-gauges as the Riverside No. 315. These guns were built on the G.S. Lewis Patent No. 1,136,247 granted April 20, 1915, and assigned to the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co.
